Dessie Healey, 14 yrs, Family Report Launch

Today marks the 51st anniversary of the murder of Desmond ‘Dessie’ Healey. He was only 14 years old, a schoolboy, when he was killed by the British Army on the day Internment was introduced in 1971, in Lenadoon, Belfast.

RFJ has been supporting and working with the Healey family for a number of years, something which we are honoured for. We have compiled this report as part of that work on behalf of the family, a piece of documentation that will keep the memory of Dessie alive, that corrects the historical narrative and that provides voice to what once were unspeakable truths. The report can be read in full here Dessie Healey family report 2022

Our thoughts are with Dessie’s relatives today, who are eagerly waiting for a fresh inquest to start in December this year. Like in too many other cases, it’s time for truth, it’s time for justice.
