Counselling

Talking Therapies

Experiencing traumatic events can impact on an individual, their wider family circle, and indeed transcend down through generations.

Although trauma is experienced uniquely by each individual, it has many after-effects that can present many years after the original events. Seeking support when feeling anxious or depressed can assist an individual to begin to understand the effects of traumatic experiences whilst gently working towards being able to feel safe again in the here and now.

Professional and Accredited

RFJ offers a professional counselling/psychotherapy service, operating to the highest of clinical standards.

We are organisational members of both the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and adhere to both of their Ethical Frameworks and codes of practice.

All of our counsellors and psychotherapists are fully accredited with the BACP/IACP and specialise in conflict-related trauma, offering trauma-focused CBT, person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Our service is overseen by a consultant clinical psychologist.

As members of the Regional Trauma Network, our team of clinical psychologists can make clinical assessments and have access to referral points into the health service should you need it.

Choosing to seek support can feel daunting. Our team know that and will ensure that it all happens at your pace, in safety and with confidentiality.*

We deliver in-house counselling in our Glen Road and Dungannon offices and remotely via Zoom or telephone. Wherever or however you choose to engage, you will be guaranteed a completely professional service.

Please ring (028) 9026 7171 to request counselling or email

*Information discussed during counselling/psychotherapy will be kept confidential with the exception of legal and professional limits to confidentiality, including:

    • If your counsellor/psychotherapist feels you are at risk of harming yourself or others
    • If there is a child protection concern

In these circumstances, your counsellor/psychotherapist may have to break confidentiality for your wellbeing.  As far as possible, this will be done with your knowledge.
