Last night the families of Jim Bryson and Patrick Mulvenna launched a report compiled with Relatives for Justice into the killings of their loved ones. A huge crowd gathered in Gort na Móna CLG to hear Patrick Mulvenna jnr and Bill McComb speak about the process of putting together all of the available information and writing a report which was personal as well as establishing why further independent investigations into the killings are necessary. Gerry Adams TD, who was Patrick Mulvenna’s brother in law, was unable to attend the evening but made a video which commended the families and endorsed their search for truth.
RFJ Caseworkers Paul Butler and Pat Conway then made a powerpoint presentation on the findings in the report and outlined the outstanding questions for the families.
Fearghal Shiels from Madden and Finucane Solicitors spoke on the matter of inquests and why the families are seeking a new inquest into the killings and made an appeal for witnesses to come forward. Frank Duffy, the only living survivor of the incident, then spoke about his memories of that day and how he supports the families’ endeavours to secure a legally compliant investigation.
