Call on all district councils to follow Derry’s example on plastic bullets

Clara Reilly, chairperson of the United Campaign Against Plastic
Bullets today sent a message to all 26 district councils to follow the
example set by Derry City Council in calling for a ban on plastic
bullets.

Mrs Reilly said:

“The United Campaign Against Plastic Bullets sends its congratulations
to Derry City Council for its vision of putting the human rights of its
citizens first in calling for a ban on plastic bullets.

“Plastic bullets affects the most vulnerable sections of all
communities. They are indiscriminate in the pain and suffering they
inflict. We are calling on all councils to seek a banning of these
lethal weapons in favour of human rights and the protection of all
people.

“We are calling on politicians to set aside any political prejudices in the clear interest of human rights.”
